Prof. Lioz Etgar
Biography
Prof. Lioz Etgar earned his Ph.D. in 2009 from the Technion–Israel Institute of Technology and subsequently conducted postdoctoral research under Prof. Michael Grätzel at EPFL, Switzerland. During his postdoctoral studies, he was awarded the prestigious Marie Curie Fellowship and the Wolf Prize for Young Scientists.
Since 2012, Prof. Etgar has served as a senior lecturer at the Institute of Chemistry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In 2017, he was promoted to Associate Professor.
Since 2021 he was promoted to Full Professor.
Prof. Etgar made a groundbreaking contribution to the field of photovoltaics by being the first to demonstrate the use of perovskite as both a light harvester and a hole conductor in solar cells. This pioneering work led to one of the seminal publications in the field of perovskite solar cells.
Prof. Etgar was honored with the prestigious Krill Prize by the Wolf Foundation and the Kaye innovation award. His research group focuses on developing innovative solar cell and light emitting diode technologies, with an emphasis on designing new excitonic solar cell architectures. By tailoring the structure and properties of inorganic light harvesters, his team aims to enhance the photovoltaic performance of next-generation solar cells.
